Mobile Phones To be Run by Hydrogen Fuel Cell

An new invention led by a group of French Researchers will increase the usage time between battery recharges. They have announced of a hydrogen fuel cell that can be used as a backup power source for mobile phones.

It has been developed by a company called Bic, that makes pens, lighters and razors, is meant to augment a handsets battery. The design is developed so as to use this hydrogen cell as a backup when the original cell is discharged.

The product is said to hit the markets by early 2010. The fuel cell will be available in the size of a cigarette lighter and is filled with hydrogen.

However, a thought has to be given on how safe would it be to have hydrogen cell placed in your pocket.
